04 Dec Gunstock Opening Day Guide for the 2025 Ski Season

The start of ski season has officially arrived in the Lakes Region, and excitement is building as Gunstock Mountain prepares to open on Friday, December 5th. With the ski mountain only fifteen minutes from Summit Resort, it has long been one of the most convenient and enjoyable winter day trips for our guests. This year’s early snow has added to the anticipation, with nine inches of natural accumulation already on the ground and additional machine-made snow laid down by Gunstock’s hardworking team. Their groomers have been out daily getting the trails in great shape for opening weekend, and several lifts, including Tiger, Pistol and the rope tow, received upgraded parts for a smoother season ahead.
Whether you are a seasoned skier, teaching the kids their first turns or simply excited to enjoy the mountain atmosphere again, Gunstock offers something for every level. The mountain’s dedicated snowmaking means reliable coverage, the terrain is varied and family-friendly and night skiing adds another layer of fun once the sun goes down. Before heading out, guests can always check the mountain’s updated snow report or explore the interactive trail map to plan their perfect day on the slopes.
A full day at Gunstock wouldn’t be complete without stopping to warm up at one of the mountain’s dining spots. Guests can grab something quick at the food court, enjoy the views from the Panorama Pub or relax at Pistol Pub or the Powder Keg Restaurant between runs. It’s all part of the classic New Hampshire ski experience that keeps families returning year after year.
Winter visitors can take advantage of our Ski and Stay Package, which offers twenty percent off accommodations and discounted ski tickets to Gunstock, twenty-five percent off midweek and fifteen percent off weekend and holiday lift tickets for each guest. It’s a simple way to stretch your vacation a bit further while enjoying the convenience of staying close to the mountain. Summit Resort has always been a comfortable and practical choice for guests looking for Gunstock lodging. Our spacious suites give families or groups plenty of room to settle in after a long day in the snow, and the indoor pool, Roman spa and onsite amenities make it easy to relax and warm up once you’re off the slopes. With the mountain so close, guests can head out early for first tracks, return in time for an afternoon swim or enjoy a quiet evening together after an active day outdoors.
As winter settles into the Lakes Region and Gunstock kicks off another season, we look forward to welcoming visitors ready to ski, ride and enjoy everything the colder months bring. It’s an exciting time of year, and there’s no better place to experience it all than with a stay at Summit Resort!
