16 Dec What To Pack For A Gunstock Mountain Ski Trip
If you are planning a ski and stay trip to the Lakes Region there are several things to keep in mind: reservations for lodging, where to have your meals, group coordination on travel and schedules, lift tickets and the dreadful packing list. Whether you plan to glide the slopes on skis or shred the fresh powder on your snowboard during your upcoming vacation, we want to make sure you are able to enjoy your getaway thoroughly and arrive prepared. We know that packing for a skiing or snowboarding vacation can get tricky and that is why we have compiled a comprehensive list of items to pack on your next winter sporting trip to one of New Hampshire’s most popular destinations, Gunstock Mountain.
- Equiptment & Gear
Of course packing your own gear that you are familiar with and find comfortable is ideal but we know that sometimes bringing every piece of equipment along for a trip is not possible. Here is a list of gear you will need to bring, buy locally or rent from the mountain: skis, ski poles, snowboard, ski or snowboard boots, helmet, goggles, a sturdy backpack and hand and toe warmers.
- Ski & Snowboard Clothing
In order to have a successful winter vacation, you need to dress the part, including multiple layers to stay warm. The outermost layer includes your waterproof jacket and ski pants, an insulated layer consisting of wool, down or fleece and a noncotton base layer that is moisture wicking. Be sure to pack your water and windproof gloves, hat, a neck gaiter and noncotton ski/snowboard socks as well.
- Toiletries
Bring your typical vacation and travel toiletry essentials and personal care items like a toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, razor, nailcare items, moisturizer, contacts and any daily medication. Although it is wintertime be sure to include weather protectant essentials such as sunscreen and Chapstick.
- Après Ski Outfits & Footwear
You likely will not be spending ALL of your vacation on the slopes so be sure to pack some outfits for the off-mountain activities you plan on. A good rule of thumb is to pack at least one of each type of outfit: casual, dressy, and comfortable. It would be safe to bring a pair of winter footwear along with casual footwear during the trip as well.
- Swimsuits
The Summit Resort has a large indoor pool area that contains a pool with a waterslide, children’s pool with waterslide, oversized Roman Spa hot tub and sauna. Be sure to pack at least one bathing suit for each member of your party including the swim diapers for the babies.
- First Aid Kit
It’s always a good idea to bring along a first aid kit on vacation. Be sure to check that it is fully stocked and has the essentials: gauze, bandages, cleansing wipes, rolled bandages, rash cream, thermometer, scissors, eyewash, safety pins, tweezers, disposable sterile gloves, pain reliever and any other items you may need in case of an emergency.
- Vacation Essentials
Don’t forget to bring the most important items such as wallets, cell phones, chargers and cameras. These objects may be overlooked and forgotten in the excitement of packing for a big trip but could really kill the vibe if left behind. The accommodations at the Summit Resort include a fully equipped kitchen so be sure to bring any meals you plan on cooking during your trip. Of course there are many delicious restaurants nearby as well so you do not need to spend your entire vacation over the stovetop. Expect to have a little bit of downtime during your upcoming trip and bring along items you and the family enjoy like board games, tablets, game consoles and books. One of the many reasons the Summit Resort is your ideal Gunstock Lodging destination is the fact that there is plenty of room in the spacious suites to enjoy such activities and to rest your sore legs after an exciting day at the mountain.
