13 Nov The Perfect Time to Visit
The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is a beautiful vacation destination throughout the year but the late autumn stretch will always be one of our favorite times to visit. This is the period where things start to slow down a bit and you can experience all the offerings the area has to offer hassle-free for an unforgettable vacation. Read on to view a list of our favorite late autumn activities.
Take a Hike
Late fall is the ideal time to hit the nearby mountains for a hike. What would typically be considered heavily trafficked hiking trails throughout the busy summer season will now leave you the space to enjoy the mountain’s summit essentially to yourself. Some leaves are still in the process of changing their colors, giving you the opportunity to observe some beautiful late season foliage along the route. Check out our list of favorite local hiking trails found here.
Play at Funspot
The world’s largest arcade is located right down the road from the Summit Resort. Within a five-minute drive, you can experience quality entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. Funspot is open year-round and since the busy tourist season is behind us, crowds won’t be much of a hindrance. Explore all three floors of the enormous arcade including pinball machines, classic arcade games, bumper cars, an eighteen-hole indoor miniature golf course and a bowling alley equipped with Ten Pin and Candlepin lanes. Enjoy lunch at the Braggin’ Dragon restaurant or stop by the D.A. Long Tavern for a drink and a round of billiards before hitting up the classic game of Pac Man to try to beat the high score.
Visit Quaint Neighboring Towns
This is the perfect time of year to visit beautiful bordering towns like Meredith and Wolfeboro. The drive is scenic and effortless during this stretch without the problematic heavy traffic that takes place during the busy season from commuters and tourists alike. You will have the opportunity to spend less time behind the wheel and more time walking around the picturesque towns, stopping by the old-fashioned shops and exploring the offerings of each location. Just a few options in the surrounding area include the Meredith Sculpture Walk, touring Hermit Woods Winery & Deli, or visiting the Wright Museum of World War II.
Enjoy Dinner at Patrick’s
Patrick’s Pub & Eatery is located in our neighboring town of Gilford and is the perfect spot to stop if you are looking for a great meal. Patrick’s is a kid-friendly Irish saloon serving American pub fare and providing great service with a smile. Their extensive menu includes seafood, soups and salads, seasonal dishes, Irish fare, burgers, sandwiches, and even a gluten free menu. There’s no better time to stop by the restaurant to enjoy the variety of delicious food.
