From thrilling parades and footraces to dazzling firework displays, each locale offers its unique spin on Independence Day celebrations. Let’s dive into the details of what each local town is offering for their 2023 Independence Day celebrations:
Laconia starts the celebration early on Sunday, July 2nd. There will be an exciting parade that will kick off at 4:30 pm, followed by a live musical performance and, the highlight of the night, a mesmerizing fireworks display at 10 pm held at Opechee Park.
Weirs Beach is lighting up the night with a spectacular Independence Day Firework show at the stroke of midnight on Tuesday July 4th, creating a mesmerizing start to the patriotic holiday.
On Tuesday, July 4th, Center Harbor has a full day of activities. Starting the day with a 1.776-mile and 5-mile footrace, along with a kid’s fun run at 9 am, followed by the annual parade at 2 pm. In the evening, enjoy a performance by the Center Harbor Town Band from 7 – 9:15 pm, culminating with a beautiful fireworks display.
The Sandwich Fire Association is hosting a chicken barbecue dinner on July 2nd beginning at 5pm located at 23 Wentworth Hill Rd where the Central Fire Station is. The price is $15 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. The Sandwich city firework display will be at the Sandwich fairgrounds at dusk on July 3rd.
Ashland is celebrating the entire weekend leading up to July 4th with various activities. Saturday July 1st there is a community kickball game and BBQ held by the Ashland Community Church. On Sunday, July 2nd there is a 5k race beginning at 8am with a cornhole tournament following at 1pm. At 8pm there will be a movie in the park feature of National Treasure for all to enjoy. On Monday, July 3rd there will be a Food Truck Festival from 3-9pm with many activities and fun events taking place on the ballfield including bounce houses for the children, a rock wall, games and a 50/50 raffle event. At 9:30pm there will be a firework display. On Independence Day there will be a Pancake breakfast held at the Common Man from 7am – 10am with a parade following right at 10am.
Meredith is promising a grand fireworks display over Meredith Bay on July 4th, launching from the land this year instead of the traditional barge launch.
Wolfeboro has planned an animal encounters show on July 3rd, with a parade, live music, and fireworks over the bay on July 4th.
Lastly, Gilmanton will host a firework display at dusk on Saturday, July 1st, at Crystal Lake Park, with a parade on the morning of July 4th.
